Vandalism Increasing in Russell Creek HOA Area

We have had many incidents of vandalism in the last few months. Several homes have been targeted as well as the common area trees. Some older trees have been completely destroyed and the newly planted trees have been damaged. Houses have been egged. Trash and bulky waste have been deliberately scattered throughout the neighborhood. There have been reports of kids climbing fences and getting on top of roofs. The HOA has already paid over $3000 for tree removal this year and will be spending another $12,000 in June to repair/remove trees and branches that have been damaged by vandalism and by storms. These expenses are expected to contribute to an increase in HOA membership dues.

We can’t do anything to stop the storms but we can all help stop the vandalism. Several youngsters from the neighborhood have been spotted doing suspicious activities in the common areas. The problem is calls were not made to the police. Don’t rely on your neighbor to make the call. You can call 911 and remain anonymous if you fear retaliation from the individuals involved. Take pictures if you can. We must catch these vandals and put a stop to this ongoing destruction.

We absolutely cannot allow these types of actions to degrade the value of our homes and properties. The police will respond to the calls and will give us extra protection if they receive the calls. So if you see something suspicious call 911. One call helps, but the more calls the better. There is no telling what these kids will do next and whose property will be targeted. The call you make just might be the one that makes a difference and prevents damage to your own home.

This damage is costly to the Association, which means it is costing YOU! If anyone is found to have been involved, personally or through your children, we will charge you for the repairs and also prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. Please talk to your children and make them understand the seriousness of the situation. It’s unfortunate that these actions must be taken but we must do everything we can to put a stop to this. We appreciate everyone’s help in stopping this problem.
